Rev. Dr. Jason Byassee

Jason brings exceptional credentials and a remarkable breadth of ministry experience to Bay View. He currently serves as the twelfth senior pastor of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church in Toronto, Ontario, a role he will continue alongside his work with us. Previously, he held the Butler Chair in Homiletics and Biblical Hermeneutics at the Vancouver School of Theology in British Columbia, where he taught preaching and shaped future ministry leaders.

His scholarship and writing have influenced thousands through his work as a contributing editor at Christian Century magazine and through thoughtful pieces in Sojourners, Christianity Today, and beyond. Jason holds both his master’s degree and Ph.D. from Duke University, and has authored numerous books on church revitalization, biblical interpretation, and technology and ministry.

Jason’s commitment to interfaith dialogue and community building was recently recognized with an Award of Heroism from the Abraham Global Peace Initiative in 2025. He serves on several boards including Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto and the Christian-Jewish Dialogue of Toronto, reflecting his dedication to bridging communities and fostering understanding.
