Mr. Haney is building a reputation for fresh innovative productions. Most Recently he directed a new production, Lucidity, by Laura Kaminsky for Opera in the Heights, La Boheme for St Petersburg Opera and is looking forward to directing The Crucible with Lawrence Opera theater later this summer.

A recent highlight was directing and designing The Medium, which was a National Opera Association prize winner. He also recently directed a new production of Carmen for St. Petersburg Opera and Verdi’s Macbeth with Opera Orlando. While in residency with Pittsburgh Opera, he directed popular performances of Handel’s Alcina and Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied.

Previously, at Marble City Opera in Knoxville, TN he directed new productions of Floyd’s Susannah, Verdi’s La Traviata and the World Premiere of Follow Suit by Griffin Candey. Mr Haney has also directed productions of La Cenerentola, Carmen and L’amico Fritz for Winter Opera in St. Louis. Prior to his work in St Louis, Mr. Haney served as principal director for Rimrock Opera working on Turandot, La Traviata, The Crucible, Rigoletto and Tosca.

Other directing engagements have included the University of Kansas, University of Central Missouri, William Jewel College and Lawrence Opera Theater, San Antonio Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Omaha, Tulsa Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Mobile Opera and Pittsburgh Opera.
