The Mackinac Bridge: Then and Now
Bridge Director Kim Nowack will delve into the history of the “Mighty Mac.” Built in the 1950s, it predated OSHA and many of the safety protocols we take for granted today. The construction crew defied danger to build the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere, and the seventh-longest in the world. Kim will also touch on the current-day challenges of maintaining this modern engineering marvel.
