Rev. Dr. Tim Bruster

Prior to his retirement in 2022, Dr. Tim Bruster served for nineteen years as senior pastor of the 6,000-member First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. He currently serves as Director of Finance and Administrative Services for the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
He holds degrees from Centenary College and Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.
Before his appointment to First UMC of Fort Worth in 2003, he served several congregations in Texas.
Dr. Bruster has served on numerous boards, including Southwestern University, Perkins School of Theology Executive Board, the Texas Methodist Foundation, the Advisory Board of the Centenary College Christian Leadership Center, Texas Wesleyan University, and the Board of Directors of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. In addition to being a delegate to the United Methodist General Conference since 2008, he has served as the first clergy alternate on the Judicial Council of the denomination since 2012.
Dr. Bruster was the preacher of the week at Bay View in June of 2017.
He is the author of a new book, Grace and Peace, a book of daily devotionals moving through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in a year.
Tim and his wife, Susan, live in Fort Worth most of the year and spend their summers enjoying northern Michigan just down the road on Crooked Lake. They have three grown daughters: Sarah, who is married to Stephen Pepper; Katie, who is married to Alex Segreti; and Emily, who is married to Chris Wahler. They are also the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.
