Let’s Get Down to Basics: Drawing and Painting Nature in Graphite and Gouache
Basic design, drawing and painting techniques and concepts will be covered with a focus on using graphite, gouache and water color. Our subjects will include objects from nature, still life and the local landscape. We will work outside, weather permitting.
The instructor will provide registered students with a specific list of basic supplies to bring to class (available at dickblick.com and jerrysartarama.com) which will include inexpensive water color paper, graphite pencils, several paint brushes and a basic gouache set (or watercolor if you prefer).
Instructor: Susan Lyman is an experienced studio art teacher, from middle school through college, with a professional studio practice as a painter and sculptor for more than 45 years. Lyman’s work is inspired by the landscape and natural forms of the three habitats where she spends her time: Michigan’s northern woods, Cape Cod’s coastal environment, and Arizona’s Sonoran desert. www.susanlyman.com
