Come and spend five days immersed in flute studies in beautiful Bay View, Michigan! The Bay View Flute Intensive is the newest addition to the Bay View Music Festival, which is the longest continuously operating chamber music festival in the United States. The Bay View Flute Intensive is open to flutists aged 16 through undergraduate collegiate flutists. The enrollment cap is set at 12 participants to allow for a small participant-to-faculty ratio.

During the BVFI, flutists will have the opportunity to work with renowned faculty from throughout the US in classes, private lessons, and chamber ensemble coaching. Class topics and highlights may include:

  • Orchestral Excerpts/Mock Audition
  • Extended Techniques
  • Piccolo, Alto, Bass Flute, Celtic and Baroque Flute
  • Efficient and Effective Practice Techniques
  • Warm-up Tips
  • Chamber Ensembles
  • Finale Performance
  • Time for exploring the beautiful Bay View/Petoskey area, including downtown, beaches, hiking trails, and more!

The program fee of $850 includes room, board, tuition and one 50-minute lesson with each faculty member (four lessons total). All participants will perform in the masterclass once, with the option to perform a second time. Other daily classes include warm-up sessions, special topics classes, and chamber ensemble coaching. Time is provided throughout the day for masterclass rehearsals with our staff pianist, personal practice time, and other pursuits.
