SUMMARY:CROP Hunger Walk
DESCRIPTION:A non-competitive walk benefitting Church World Service and Manna Food Project. The 22nd annual Little Traverse CROP Hunger Walk will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026 on the grounds of the Bay View Association. All are invited to join the walk and support the non-profit organizations that seek to alleviate food insecurity locally and around the world. If you are not available to participate in the event, please still consider supporting your friends and neighbors in this worthy cause with your donation.\n \nThe walk starts and ends at Evelyn Hall, 1715 Encampment Avenue in Bay View, next to Hall Auditorium. Registration for the walk opens at 8:30am the morning of the event. The walk begins at 9:00am. The non-competitive three-mile walk is at your own pace and winds through the historic Bay View community. The route offers the flexibility to shorten the distance if necessary. There is also a one-mile wheelchair accessible alternative route. For those who wish to support the event, but are unable to participate, please feel free to “virtually walk” by rocking on the porch of Evelyn Hall.\n \nThe Little Traverse CROP Hunger Walk is one of about 500 CROP walks held each year around the United States to raise money to support worldwide and local efforts to combat hunger and food insecurity. One quarter of the funds raised by the Little Traverse CROP Hunger Walk (last year raised $25,000) are returned to support local hunger-relief projects through the Harbor Springs-based Manna Food Project. The remaining funds support Church World Service (CWS), an interdenominational faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.\n \nTax-deductible donations (checks payable to “CWS/CROP”) may be made at the registration table on walk day or given prior thereto to a pre-registered walker.\n \nFor online registration and/or donations:\nhttps://crophungerwalk.org/petoskey ( https://crophungerwalk.org/petoskey ) Churches and other associations may walk and fund-raise as a team; the online site allows donations to be credited to specific teams.\n \nFor more information, opportunities for sponsorship by businesses or service organizations, or to set up a team, please contact Rob Scarrow at 267-475-4645; rscarrow@icloud.com or Steve Vella at 313-570-4277; spvella1957@gmail.com.\n
