On October 25, 1880, Bay View Trustees decided to reserve an area as a “natural park”  dedicated to the recreational, educational, and spiritual needs of the community. In 1996, a plaque and rest area were dedicated in memory of Dr. William Gilbert for his efforts in preserving and protecting Bay View’s Woods for future generations. A Woods Advisory Committee advises trustees in their stewardship of the woods and its four miles of hiking trails and walkways. Jogging, hiking and walking are encouraged, but no bikes, please.
